Ricoh GR accessories and flash

Official Ricoh accessories for the GR IV, GR IIIx and GR III: the GF-2 flash, cases, straps, ring caps, GW-4 and GT-2 lenses, batteries. What fits which GR.

Flash on the GR IV

Ricoh's GR IV spec sheet lists no built-in flash. It lists a hot shoe, "compatible with dedicated flash". The GR IV FAQ answers "Is flash photography available?" with: "Yes. Flash photography is possible by connecting the optional external flash GF-2."

The same FAQ gives the GF-2 a guide number of 3 at ISO 100 and flash sync up to 1/2500 sec. It has no High-Speed Sync mode.

Older Pentax flashes are a different case. The FAQ says the AF180FG, AF201FG, AF540FGZ II and AF360FGZ II have no linking function with the GR IV. They fit the hot shoe and can fire in manual, but Ricoh does not support them, because P-TTL may not give the right exposure. The AF540FGZ II and AF360FGZ II cannot be used for wireless shooting.

The GF-2 also works on the GR III and GR IIIx. Ricoh's GR III / GR IIIx accessories page says: "Updating the firmware enables use of the external flash GF-2." On those two cameras the GF-2 has its own exposure mode, GF-2 Flash Mode. It came with firmware 2.10 for the GR III and 1.60 for the GR IIIx. Details in our GR firmware log. Cases

Ricoh GC-11: Fits GR III, GR IIIx and GR IV. Leather case for the GR with a magnetic top cover and a belt loop.
Ricoh GC-12: Fits GR III, GR IIIx and GR IV. Soft leather case for carrying the camera in a bag. It folds small when not in use.

Straps

Ricoh GS-2: Fits GR, GR DIGITAL IV, GR II, GR III, GR IIIx and GR IV. Single-point leather hand strap with an embossed GR logo. Ricoh's English case page names GR IV, GR III, GR II and GR; the Japanese case page also names GR IIIx and GR DIGITAL IV.
Ricoh GS-3: Fits GR, GR II, GR III, GR IIIx and GR IV. Two-point leather neck strap with an embossed GR logo.
Ricoh GS-4 (30th): Fits GR III, GR IIIx and GR IV. Leather finger strap in black and light gray with a debossed GR logo and 30th ANNIVERSARY stamped on the back. Limited quantity. Not the regular GS-4.
Ricoh GS-4 (BK): Fits GR III, GR IIIx and GR IV. Leather finger strap in the body colour with an embossed GR logo. Not the 30th Anniversary piece.
Ricoh ST-2: Fits GR, GR DIGITAL IV, GR II, GR III, GR IIIx and GR IV. Two-point neck strap with RICOH embroidery, the same shape as GS-3. About 1m long. Ricoh's English case page names GR III, GR II, GR and GR DIGITAL IV; GR IV and GR IIIx are named on the Japanese case page and on Ricoh's GR IV and GR III / GR IIIx accessories pages.

Ring caps

Ricoh GN-1 (BK): Fits GR III. Ring cap for the GR III in black, the same as the one fitted to the camera. Not for GR IV.
Ricoh GN-1 (DG): Fits GR III. Replacement ring cap for the GR III in metallic dark gray. Not for GR IV.
Ricoh GN-2 (BK): Fits GR IIIx. Ring cap for the GR IIIx in black, the same as the one fitted to the camera.
Ricoh GN-2 (BZ): Fits GR IIIx. Replacement ring cap for the GR IIIx in metallic bronze.
Ricoh GN-2 (DG): Fits GR IIIx. Replacement ring cap for the GR IIIx in metallic dark gray.

Batteries

Ricoh DB-110: Fits GR III and GR IIIx. Rechargeable Li-ion battery for the GR III and GR IIIx, also used by some WG and G900 models. Ricoh's GR III / GR IIIx spec page lists it among the included items of both cameras. Not for GR IV.
Ricoh DB-120: Fits GR IV. Rechargeable Li-ion battery for the GR IV, the same as the one in the box. Charge it in the camera or with BJ-12.

Chargers and AC adapters

Ricoh BJ-11: Works with DB-110 (GR III and GR IIIx). Charges the DB-110. USB battery charger for the DB-110. About 2.5 hours from empty. Not for GR IV.
Ricoh BJ-12: Works with DB-120 (GR IV). Charges up to two DB-120 batteries. USB battery charger for up to two DB-120 batteries. About 2 hours from empty.
Ricoh K-AC166J: Fits GR III, GR IIIx, GR IV and K-3 Mark III. On GR IV: The English GR IV accessories page labels this kit D-AC166; the English FAQ uses D-AC166 for the adapter alone. AC adapter kit (an AC adapter plus an AC cord) for running the camera from a wall outlet. Ricoh's English GR IV accessories page lists this kit as D-AC166; the English GR IV FAQ uses D-AC166 for the AC adapter on its own.

Flashes

Pentax AF180FG: Fits GR III, GR IIIx, K-1 Mark II, K-3 Mark III and KF. On GR III: P-TTL auto flash, per the English GR III firmware page. Flash listed on the GR III accessories page and on the K-1 Mark II accessories page. Not for GR IV.
Ricoh GF-2: Fits GR III, GR IIIx and GR IV. On GR III: Needs GR III firmware 2.10 or later, which adds GF-2 Flash Mode (English GR III firmware page). On GR IIIx: Needs GR IIIx firmware 1.60 or later, which adds GF-2 Flash Mode (English GR IIIx firmware page). Compact external flash, guide number up to 3 (ISO 100, m). Built-in Li-ion battery, charged over USB-C.

Lens adapters and conversion lenses

Ricoh GA-1: Fits GR III. Lens adapter for the GR III. It takes the GW-4 wide conversion lens and 49mm filters. Not for GR IIIx and GR IV.
Ricoh GA-2: Fits GR IIIx. Lens adapter for the GR IIIx. It takes the GT-2 tele conversion lens and 49mm filters. Not for GR III.
Ricoh GA-3: Fits GR IV. Lens adapter for the GR IV. It takes the GW-4 wide conversion lens and 49mm filters. Not for GR III.
Ricoh GT-2: Fits GR IIIx with GA-2. On GR IIIx: Needs the GA-2 lens adapter. Tele conversion lens for the GR IIIx, giving a 75mm-equivalent view. Needs lens adapter GA-2. A pouch comes with it. Not for GR III and GR IV.
Ricoh GW-4: Fits GR III with GA-1 and GR IV with GA-3. On GR III: Needs the GA-1 adapter on GR III. On GR IV: Needs the GA-3 adapter on GR IV. Wide conversion lens, 0.75x, for a 21mm-equivalent view. A hood and pouch come with it. Not for GR IIIx.

Hot shoe covers

Ricoh GK-1: Fits GR III and GR IIIx. Stainless steel alloy hot-shoe cover in metallic dark gray, to match the GN-1 (DG) ring cap.
Ricoh GK-1 (30th): Fits GR III and GR IIIx. Stainless steel alloy hot-shoe cover in steel gray, engraved with the GR 30th Anniversary logo. Limited quantity. Not the regular GK-1.
Ricoh GK-2: Fits GR IV. Stainless steel alloy hot-shoe cover in metallic gray.
Ricoh GK-2 (30th): Fits GR IV. Stainless steel alloy hot-shoe cover in steel gray, engraved with the GR 30th Anniversary logo. Limited quantity. Not the regular GK-2.

Viewfinders

Ricoh GV-1: Fits GR, GR DIGITAL IV, GR II, GR III and GR IV. On GR III and GR IV: Part of the view is blocked when a conversion lens or hood is fitted. Optical external viewfinder with 21mm and 28mm frames (35mm equivalent), about 90% coverage. It mounts on the hot shoe. A case comes with it.
Ricoh GV-2: Fits GR, GR DIGITAL IV, GR II, GR III and GR IV. On GR III and GR IV: Part of the view is blocked when a conversion lens or hood is fitted. Optical mini viewfinder with a 28mm frame (35mm equivalent) and 1:1 marks, about 85% coverage. It mounts on the hot shoe. A case comes with it.
Ricoh GV-3: Fits GR IIIx. Optical mini viewfinder with a 40mm frame (35mm equivalent) and 1:1 marks, about 85% coverage. A case comes with it.
