Ricoh released firmware 1.04 for the GR IV on November 28, 2025, accompanied by a notice directed at existing owners. The main changes concern battery management.[1][2]
Wireless communication now turns off automatically when the battery level becomes low. Ricoh said the change is intended to prevent battery consumption caused by wireless communication continuing to run under those conditions.[1]
The company also revised charging control to prioritize safety and stability and reduce battery deterioration.[1]
The firmware support page additionally lists clearer pairing guidance when registering a camera in GR WORLD and improvements to general operating stability. These changes may be relevant to owners who regularly use the camera with a smartphone.[2]
Ricoh provides a computer-and-microSD update procedure and calls for sufficient battery power and uninterrupted installation. Owners should check the camera model and installed version before proceeding.[1][2]
