The Ricoh GR IV HDF’s Japanese release date is January 16, 2026. Ricoh formally announced it on December 17, 2025, making this a cross-year retail launch rather than a first announcement in 2026.[1][2]
HDF stands for Highlight Diffusion Filter. This version replaces the standard GR IV’s ND filter with HDF, spreading highlights for a softer rendering. Photographers can switch the filter to change the image style. A silver-gray shutter button distinguishes the exterior, and the default Fn assignment controls filter switching.[1]
It retains the GR IV’s approximately 25.74MP APS-C architecture and 28mm-equivalent F2.8 lens, while supporting an electronic shutter up to 1/16000 second. The date here applies to Japan; availability and purchasing arrangements vary by market.[1]
