Ricoh GR IIIx production to end in October 2026
Ricoh expects GR IIIx, IIIx HDF and IIIx Urban Edition production to end with units shipped in October 2026, as some parts run out. Dates are for Japan.
Ricoh expects to stop making the GR IIIx, the GR IIIx HDF and the GR IIIx Urban Edition. Production ends with the units shipped in October 2026. The reason Ricoh gives is parts: some are no longer available. That schedule is for Japan.
What Ricoh wrote
The note is in Ricoh's GR IVx development notice, dated Tokyo, 27 Aug 2026. We re-read the English text on 11 Oct 2026:
With the availability of certain parts ending, production of the current RICOH GR IIIx, IIIx HDF, and IIIx Urban Edition models is expected to conclude with the products shipped in October 2026*. We appreciate your understanding on this matter.
*This schedule is for Japan. Ending dates may differ for overseas regions.

What it covers

What it does not cover
The GR III, the 28mm model, is not in the note. Ricoh's English GR III / GR IIIx page already labels the GR III "Discontinued". When we checked on 11 Oct 2026, the same page did not label the GR IIIx.
Firmware
The latest GR IIIx firmware is 1.60, released 23 Oct 2025. It added GF-2 Flash Mode. The same file covers the HDF and the Urban Edition. Every recent version is in our GR firmware log.
The GR IVx
The same notice announced the GR IVx in development. It also has a 40mm-equivalent lens. Ricoh does not call it a GR IIIx replacement. It describes the GR IVx as expanding what the GR IV can do, and plans to release it in winter 2026 or later. More in our GR IVx story.
