GR IV firmware 1.11 adds electronic shutter up to 1/16000 second
Ricoh’s February 13 update extends fast-shutter shooting on the standard GR IV and notes possible distortion of moving subjects.

Ricoh released GR IV/GR IV HDF firmware 1.11 on February 13, 2026. The standard GR IV gains an electronic shutter reaching 1/16000 second even at F2.8, helping retain a wide aperture in bright light. Operational stability improvements are also listed.[1]
The HDF version already offered this electronic-shutter capability, so the feature is not new to both models. The support page provides model-specific update information; owners should check their camera and current firmware before proceeding.[1]
Ricoh warns that fast-moving cars, trains or sporting subjects may appear distorted with the electronic shutter. The camera cannot be returned to older firmware after updating.
