PENTAX confirms a new-concept DSLR retaining K-mount lens use
The September 9 statement confirms development while ending production of the current K-series DSLRs.

In a statement dated September 9, 2026, Ricoh Imaging confirmed development of a DSLR built around a new concept. It wants lenses accumulated over half a century of the K mount to remain usable and to carry the value of optical-viewfinder photography into a new stage.[1]
The company also says production of current K-series DSLRs is ending as it prepares for that transition. Bringing the new product to fruition will take more time; no quarter or launch year is promised.[1]
The statement establishes a development direction, without a retail model, sensor format, resolution or price. It does not confirm names such as K-1 III or K-3 IV, nor any series name proposed outside the company.
