Ricoh announced the TP-1 lens protector for the RICOH THETA X on September 30, 2025. The accessory addresses the exposed lenses of a 360-degree camera used near protruding objects or dust, including on construction sites.[1]
The lens section uses polycarbonate resin in an aluminum holder. Ricoh specifies a hard coating on both sides and an anti-reflection coating on one side, with the aim of protecting the optics while preserving image quality and stitching performance. Each protector measures approximately 37.0 × 14.2 × 37.0mm and weighs about 4g.[1]
The package contains two protectors with double-sided tape already attached, a pouch, two anti-reflection sheets plus three spares, two spare tapes, a removal tool and instructions. A scratched protector can be removed and replaced. The pouch accommodates the fitted protector and the removal tool, and its material can also wipe dust from the lens.[1]
Update — October 21, 2025: Ricoh’s Japanese announcement confirms that TP-1 goes on sale that day. Owners should choose TP-1 for THETA X; the TP-2 introduced with THETA A1 is a separately designated accessory.[2]
