Ricoh released THETA X firmware 2.80.1 on July 8, 2025. It supports changes to wireless LAN password specifications and fixes top/bottom correction for photographs taken under certain conditions, alongside other bug fixes.[1]
Update — July 15: THETA Z1 firmware 3.50.2 adds support for the wireless-password changes and a bug fix.[2]
Update — August 7: Ricoh reports that Z1 3.50.2 can give incorrect automatic exposure for the first photograph after power-on or wake when using the camera’s shutter button. Shooting through the RICOH360 app is unaffected, as are the listed My Settings HDR, handheld HDR and noise-reduction modes. Distribution of 3.50.2 is suspended and the previous 3.40.3 is offered again while a correction is prepared.[3]
Update — August 26: Z1 firmware 3.51.0 fixes that first-shot exposure problem.[4]
Update — September 18: Ricoh explains the factory-password change. Relevant newly purchased X and Z1 units supplied with the specified firmware, and all A1 units, use a random eight-character initial password instead of the serial-number-derived one. The notice addresses purchases after August 2025 and lists applicable serial-number groups. Updating an existing camera’s firmware does not change its password. RICOH360 app 1.18.0 or later and Tours 5.51.0 or later retain connectivity.[5]
